Dealing with Bad News

Receiving bad news can be a devastating experience. The rug is pulled out from under the person receiving it, and her/his life can be turned upside down. At some stage, regardless of whether you are a staff member or volunteer, you may be the one called upon to support the person who has just been confronted with bad news.

A one-day workshop has been designed especially by the Irish Cancer Society to prepare workers and volunteers on how best to respond to someone who has been given bad news in a caring and nurturing way.

The workshop will help you to respond to anyone’s bad news appropriately. It will be fun to attend, and it will be a relaxing and enjoyable day, sharing wisdom, working together, building skills and answering any questions that you may have.

The Dealing with Bad News workshop will take place in Vita House, Abbey Street, Roscommon on Saturday 27th April, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Refreshments provided.

Facilitator: Dr. Kathy Harrison, PhD., MSc., BSc., BA (Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy)
