Roscommon Drug and Alcohol Family Support

The Drug and Alcohol Family Support Worker provide information, coping and support tools to family members affected by a loved one’s drug or alcohol misuse. The service is based in South Roscommon Family Resource Centre, a project of Vita House, Boyle Family Resource Centre, Ballaghaderreen, Castlerea and Vita House Outreach Monksland. There are several support options available.

Online Support: There are various groups, sessions and trainings available online throughout the year. To see what’s on offer, please go to www.wrdatf.ie

One to one support: Provides a safe and non-judgemental space where you are listened to and supported. The family support worker helps you name and work with your needs, goals and strengths.

Information: Gives relevant information on drugs, alcohol, and the effects substance misuse has on individuals and family members.

Evidence based support programmes: The provision of family support programmes such
as 5-Step Method, Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and Non-Violent Resistance (NVR).

Referral options: Provides sign posting to further services, based on needs.

Respite and wellness options: Planned events for family members.

Self-care: Promotes physical, mental, and social health and well-being.
